Hosting session “ERE 2.7 session” at EGU24

📣 Last week at EGU24, our team member, Lazaros Aresti, had co-convered session ERE 2.7 “Shallow Geothermal Energy: Geoscience and Engineering Approaches at Different Scales”, with: Giorgia Dalla Santa, Cornelia Steiner, Alberto Previati,
Rotman A. Criollo Manjarrez, and Francesco Cecinato.

During the ERE 2.7 session, speakers covered various topics within the geothermal energy field. All contributing to the sustainable and efficient utilization of the ground for heating and cooling, including:

💡 Analyzing resources – Introducing new methods to assess geothermal potential, with case studies from Cambridge, Scotland, and Freiburg.
💡 New applications – Exploring the thermal use of roadbeds and quay walls.
💡 Lab work – Enhancing our understanding of thermal conductivities and aquifer properties.
💡 Interdisciplinary collaboration – Sharing insights from studies with limnologists and energy planners.

👏 Important to highlight the contribution of the COST Geothermal DHC and FOLIAGE COST action members, where many presented studies were directly or indirectly connected with.
